So I was just largemouth bass fishing (since it’s VT’s Natty -:) and hooked

this ‘little guy‘ in the Diascund Reservoir in New Kent County.

My freshwater scale only goes up to 50 lbs so I don’t know his weight (citation weight I believe is 20 or 25 lbs).

He’s a flathead catfish, but I thought I hooked a cow.

He’s tied up on a rope at the end of a dock. I’m taking him in to get officially weighed tomorrow, and then will let him go (flatheads can live up to 15 hours out of water, so no issues there).

I have a rule in fishing: you don’t eat fish older than you (It may well have be born in the Nixon Administration).

I’m sure this has to be some kind of Diascund Reservoir record.
